Australian Obstacle Racing News   |   Sep 1, 2017

With less than 100 days to go, the Perth Trifecta Weekend is shaping up to be Australia's biggest ever Spartan Race weekend!

After a two-year absence, Spartan Race is heading back West to challenge your mind, body and spirit on some of Perth's toughest hills. Racing through native bushland, Spartans will be put to the test as they tackle some of the best obstacles that Perth and mother nature have to offer. Just watch out for the kangaroos and the drop bears!

There will be something for everyone:

  • The 7km Sprint is perfect for those new to obstacle course racing, or those who just want to have a bit of fun;
  • The 14km Super is perfect for those who want challenge themselves and test their legs on Perth hills;
  • The 21km Beast is for those endurance runners who want to test their limits and see what a half-marathon feels like when obstacles are involved; and
  • A dedicated kids race. Kids aged 4 and up can run in the mud until their heart's content.

If you're after a real challenge – sign up and do the Trifecta (Sprint, Super and Beast).

If you're a first-time racer you can sign up for the Spartan Rookie Pass. The Rookie Pass gives you one chance to run without burpees – 30 of which are given out for every failed obstacle.

For those die-hard endurance athletes, or those who just want to push themselves far out of their comfort zones, then the 12 Hour Hurricane Heat is for you. What is a Hurricane Heat? It's a group challenge that is based on teamwork and resilience. It's about pushing yourself to your limits, and then some. Nobody fails – but not everybody finishes. The HH12HR is one of those events that will leave you surprised at your own capabilities.

The Perth Trifecta Weekend will be host to the Asia-Pacific Series Championship. Spartan Racers from all over the Asia-Pacific region will be heading to Perth to compete against each other in the ultimate showdown. This is the first international Spartan Race that Australia has ever held so it's bound to be a great one.

Spartan recently celebrated the 100-days-to-go milestone with a media launch in Kings Park, with the WA Minister for Tourism, The Honourable Paul Papalia CSC, MLA. You can find the news coverage here:
